By the end, you almost feel as if you've been beat up (but in the best way possible). Mixing elements of chiptune with some great Pendulum-esque drum-n-bass, the intensity in this track hits you almost immediately and barely lets up. Flexstyle certainly wastes no time in letting you know that this song isn't going to sound like a walk in the park.
"This song in the soundtrack is so unmistakingly boss battle music that you start to get sweaty palms and heart palpitations almost as soon as it starts playing. While I'm sure some "tenth doctors" will share their thoughts with us on YouTube, this mix has oomph & impact and electrifies the already manic/chromatic intensity of the source B&R director zircon writes: Happy hardcore breakdown inspired by DDRKirby(ISQ), who was my teammate in a competition! This song in particular has gotten a good reception from fans who downloaded the album, so hopefully nobody's too disappointed at seeing this hit the front page.
But this has a chippy happy hardcore interlude in there as well, just for good measure. Nine out of ten fictitious doctors recommend turning the volume up, and the tenth one just can't hear you anymore and wants you to get off of his lawn. It's mostly a DnB-influenced electronic track, with a bit of roid rage sprinkled in. The goal of this one was to go completely bonkers and insane, bumping that sense of urgency up past 11, and I'm pretty sure it hits that goal. This source came up during a staff meeting as one that hadn't been claimed yet, and when I heard it I knew I had to take a crack at it. It's a crazy, high-octane, massively adrenaline-soused version of the "Fierce Battle" theme, which is fairly high energy in its own right. This was, of course, one of my three songs done for the FF6 project, Balance and Ruin. Figured I'd give it a new lease on life and, y'know, actually get off my behind and put this ol' file to good use. "Realized I'd never properly submitted this to the site.
For today we've got a classic cut from Balance and Ruin, as Flexstyle (Michael Birch) takes FF6's "The Fierce Battle" and ups the fierceness by at least 200% with hard-hitting DnB that takes no prisoners, featuring smoldering synths, meaty kicks, bludgeoning bass, some chip textures circa 1'48", and mind-altering pitch-bend/filter transition antics:
